The D.W. McMillan Medical Center is very serious about safeguarding patient information. Only those employees who have a need to know patient information in order to perform their job should access such information. If an employee accesses patient information that he/she has no need to know in order to do his/her job, the employee will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination.
It is the policy of The D.W. McMillan Medical Center to comply with patient privacy rights and their individually identifiable health information as required by the Heath Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). The D.W. McMillan Medical Center also complies with the regulations related to the security of electronic patient information as required by HIPAA. It is the responsibility for each employee to be familiar with the HIPAA privacy and security policies of The D.W. McMillan Medical Center.
